Garner man charged in armed robbery of Raleigh grocery

— A Garner man has been charged in an armed robbery at a grocery store.

Richard Arthur McKay, 20, is accused of using a revolver to take $150 in cash from Bobby’s Grocery at 3114 Garner Road in Raleigh.

McKay, of 500-A Forest Drive in Garner, faces felony charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by a felon. He previously was convicted of felony breaking and entering in 2011, and is alleged to have conspired with an unknown second suspect in the recent robbery of the grocery.

He has been jailed since Jan. 18 on previous robbery-related charges, but was charged with the most recent crimes on Monday. Details of the earlier charges weren’t immediately available.

McKay was held at the Wake County Detention Center in lieu of $415,000 bail.
