Tom Austin: Jobs needed, not charity

January 29, 2014

Regarding the Jan. 29 news article “Obama vows poor will get help”: Apparently President Obama’s main policy in his last years is to raise the minimum wage and extend unemployment.

I have an idea. How about reforming our tax code and creating a pro-business environment so we can actually get people back to work? How about approving the Keystone pipeline? These are things he could get approved immediately that would create countless jobs.

The man who was going to change the world is now pitching minimum wage and unemployment. This is pathetic. People want jobs not charity and pity.
