Recap: Chattanooga vs. Furman

Chattanooga, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Casey Jones led the way with 18 points as the Chattanooga Mocs downed the Furman Paladins, 67-52, in Southern Conference play at McKenzie Arena.

For the Mocs (15-9, 9-1 SoCon), Martynas Bareika added 16 points, Z. Mason posted a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds and Ronrico White chipped in with 10 points.

Stephen Croone led the Paladins (7-14, 1-7) with 14 points, Kendrec Ferrara scored 11 with nine rebounds and Charlie Reddick pulled down 12 boards.

Chattanooga shot 41.9 percent from the field to open the contest, but made just one of its eight 3-point shots in the half. However, they were able to take a 28-19 lead into intermission by holding Furman to just 28.6 percent shooting from the field in the opening period.

After halftime, the Paladins improved their shooting greatly, knocking down 50 percent of their field goal tries. The Mocs shot 44.1 percent in the second, including 5-of-13 from beyond the arc. Chattanooga opened the half on a 14-4 run to pull away from Furman, eventually going ahead by as many as 24 as they coasted to victory.

The Mocs had the slight edge in points in the paint, 38-36. Chattanooga forced 19 turnovers and committed just 11 of its own.
