Bridgeview, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Chicago Fire has acquired midfielder Benji Joya in a weighted lottery with the United States Youth international joining the Fire on a one-year loan from Mexican side Santos.

Chicago will also have a transfer option on Joya, who will join the Fire roster upon receipt of his International Transfer Certificate.

"Benji is a talented, young player," said Chicago Fire head coach and director of soccer Frank Yallop. "He has international experience and will be a great addition as we continue to build and strengthen our squad."

The 20-year-old joined Santos in 2012 and made four appearances in Liga MX and two more in the Copa MX.

Joya also served as captain of the United States team that took part in the 2013 CONCACAF U-20 Championship.
