Michael Silverstein: The ‘new’ Cary

February 7, 2014

Regarding the Feb. 2 news article “Huge plan: 22,000 homes, a ‘new city’ in Chatham”: I lived in Cary for nearly two decades. During that time, I watched a small, quiet community metastasize into a sprawling mass of subdivisions, shopping centers and traffic lights.

Having had enough, my wife and I sold our house in Cary and were ready to move to another region or state until we discovered a quiet house in the woods of Pittsboro. Now Tim Smith and Jim Goodnight want to turn Pittsboro into Cary.

I suppose they can spread their cancer if they want, but I’ll make sure I’m far away when they do it.

Michael Silverstein, Pittsboro
