Linda Fuller: Aiken hits all the right notes

February 9, 2014

Regarding the Feb. 5 news article “Aiken vies to take on Ellmers for Congress”: Clay Aiken’s run for a North Carolina 2nd Congressional District seat is indeed strengthened by his musical performance fame, rendering him a “potent political” force. This native son has been all grown up for quite a while, and he knows the people.

Aiken’s numerous and impressive humanistic efforts afford him high rank in public service. And his special education experience alone is a treasure of private/personal victories – good balance for entering the political arena.

On and off camera, Aiken is a creative thinker, learner and doer. Spiritually grounded, he is always working for others. He would doubtless distinguish himself in Congress, “resonate like a winning song” and challenge us to hear the music behind the words.
