Durham child-abuse suspect arrested in Raleigh

From staff reportsFebruary 11, 2014

— The U.S. Marshals Service on Monday arrested a Durham man suspected of felony child abuse. Authorities issued charges for Jesse Antwon Lane, 24, and his girlfriend last week, but weren’t able to find Lane until Tuesday.

Lane and his girlfriend, Aamber Wunique Swann, 23, were charged after they took their three-month-old son to the hospital with life-threatening injuries last week, according to the Durham Police Department. Federal authorities found Lane in Raleigh.

The couple, of Windlestraw Drive in Durham, face one count each of felony child abuse–serious bodily injury and one count of felony child neglect/abuse–serious physical injury, police spokeswoman Kammie Michael wrote in an email.

Lane’s bond wasn’t immediately available. Swann remained in the Durham County jail Tuesday under $750,000 bail.
