Scott Burkhead honored by ad group

Triangle advertising executive Scott Burkhead recently received the highest individual honor awarded by the local chapter of the American Advertising Federation, the Silver Medal Award, in recognition of his contributions to the industry.

Burkhead is managing partner of Burkhead Brand Group, which he founded in 2009 and which is moving from Cary to downtown Raleigh next month. But he is best-known for co-founding ad agency Rockett Burkhead & Winslow, which he formed with Howard Rockett in 1985 and which at one time had 120 employees.

Burkhead served as co-CEO and chairman of the agency before retiring — a retirement that obviously didn’t stick — in 2006. Rockett Burkhead went out of business in 2009.

“Scott Burkhead’s vision, creativity and leadership has helped shape the Triangle advertising industry into what it is today,” Natalie Perkin, CEO of Clean Design, said in a news release announcing the award.
