Cheney, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - Martin Seiferth registered a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds as the Eastern Washington Eagles captured an 85-72 win over the Sacramento State Hornets in Big Sky Conference play.
Parker Kelly led all scorers with 18 points, Tyler Harvey accounted for 16, Drew Brandon 14 points, to go along with nine assists and six rebounds, followed by Venky Jois who also filled his stat line for the Eagles (11-13, 6-7 Big Sky) with 12 points, nine rebounds and seven assists as the team won for the third time in the last four outings.
Mikh McKinney led the Hornets (10-12, 6-7) with 15 points, six boards, five assists and four steals, but still the team had a four-game win streak come to an end. Zach Mills and Dylan Garrity both delivered 10 points as well in the setback.
Eastern Washington scored the first points of the meeting and never looked back, converting an impressive 57.1 percent from the floor in the first half in order to claim a commanding 45-29 advantage at the break.
In the second half the Hornets cut into the deficit slightly, but still the Eagles made good on 54.2 percent from the field in order to keep their distance.
EWU owned a 34-26 rebounding edge and also outscored the visitors in the paint by a 36-18 margin.
