Next Wake Superintendent’s forum a chance to talk about snow makeup days

Tonight is not, as some media outlets have reported, the last Wake County “Superintendent’s Direct Forum” where the public can speak directly to Superintendent Jim Merrill.

There’s one more forum next Monday on Feb. 24 at Green Hope High School in Cary to replace one in January that was canceled because of the snow. But tonight’s Feb. 17 forum at Wakefield High School, 2200 Wakefield Pines Drive in Raleigh, is the first Direct Line forum since schools were closed seven days in the last few weeks because of snow.

You could see parents and school employees offering their suggestions on how the school system should deal with the makeup days. The school board will decide Tuesday on how to make up the three days lost last week.

Signup tonight starts onsite at 4 p.m. The time from 4:30 to 6 p.m. is reserved for school employees to speak. After a 30-minute break, the period from 6:30 to 8 p.m. is reserved for the general public, including parents.
