If the Triangle area has produced a single musical superstar act in the past decade, it would have to be the talented Steep Canyon Rangers. From humble beginnings playing music in dormitory stairwells at UNC-Chapel Hill, the Rangers have risen to Grammy heights with their original, intimate bluegrass, and as partners with banjoist Steve Martin. The group was awarded bluegrass music’s Entertainer of the Year for their latest CD, “Tell the Ones I Love,” which was recorded in the late Levon Helm’s studio in Woodstock, N.Y. On Saturday, the Rangers will perform songs from this and their other CDs when they take the stage at Lincoln Theatre in Raleigh. For more info: lincolntheatre.com
