Four people charged in fatal Raleigh shooting

From staff reportsFebruary 25, 2014

— Two Raleigh women have been arrested and charged in the fatal shooting south of downtown Tuesday night.

Erica Delvern Burnell, 34, and Christina Nicole Barnes, 33, each are charged with one count of accessory after the fact of murder, according to police spokesman Jim Sughrue.

Burnell and Barnes were taken into custody early Sunday morning at a motel in Petersburg, Va., where police also arrested Dudley Lamar Kee, 29, and James Keith Nelson, 23, both of Roanoke Rapids.

The men are both charged with first degree murder for the fatal shooting of Marcus Rashad Owens, 26.

Police say Owens was shot shortly before midnight Feb. 18 in the parking lot of Davis Plaza, a strip mall in the 2600 block of S. Saunders Street. Police say a disagreement between the men escalated and resulted in gunshots.

The four suspects had not yet been extradited to Wake County, Sughrue said early Tuesday evening.
