BENSON — Emergency crews responded Friday afternoon to multiple crashes that resulted in about a half-dozen injuries and the closure of one northbound lane of Interstate 95 just northeast of Benson.
Three crashes happened between 3 and 3:30 p.m. near the highway’s interchange with Interstate 40, according to the State Highway Patrol, though it’s unclear if they were connected. The crashes were spread between mile markers 79 and 84, the patrol reported.
Four people from one car and two from another were hospitalized, said First Sergeant R.P. Hooks, though he stressed that the information was preliminary. Responders shut down one lane of the highway, but hoped to open it again as soon as of 4:30 p.m., Hooks said.
