Raleigh cook accused of stealing $150,000 in checks, money orders

— A Raleigh man is accused of stealing about $3,000 in cash and $150,000 in checks and money orders from a local property management company.

An arrest warrant accuses Kelvin Anthony Byam, 52, of committing the larceny on Nov. 11. He is charged with felony larceny.

Byam already is accused of a long list of charges, according to county records. He was arrested on Jan. 1 and faces at least 20 charges total, including breaking and/or entering, identity theft, larceny, financial card theft, probation violation, and breaking or entering a motor vehicle, according to county records.

Byam was being held Friday at the Wake County Detention Center in lieu of $604,000 bail. He is listed on arrest reports as a cook at Fitzgerald’s Seafood Restaurant.
