March 1, 2014

Tuition for undergraduates at Duke University will go up 4 percent next year to $45,800.

The university’s board of trustees on Saturday approved a 3.9 percent increase in the total cost of attending Duke. Undergraduate tuition, room, board and fees will come to $60,533 for the next academic year.

Tuition will go up at Duke’s graduate and professional schools as well, with increases ranging from 3.5 percent to 4.9 percent.

More than half of all Duke students receive some form of financial assistance from the university, the school said. Forty percent receive need-based financial aid, which includes grants, loans and work-study jobs; the rest receive honors, athletic or other scholarships.
