Broughton student reports men tried to lure him into car

From staff reportsMarch 5, 2014

— Two “middle- to older-aged white males” drove alongside an 18-year-old Broughton High School student as he walked to class and tried to lure him into their car Wednesday, according to a Raleigh Police Department report.

The men “attempted to persuade him to get into their vehicle and leave the school’s campus with them,” the student told police. Surveillance photos show a hatchback model of the Ford Focus.

The student did not get into the car, and no crime was committed, according to police. However, police want to find the vehicle’s occupants “to clarify the intentions behind the encounter.”

Police have little information about the men inside the vehicle, except that the fingers of the driver’s right hand were wrapped or bandaged.

Anyone with information about the incident should call the department’s tip line at 919-934-4357, or to visit www.raleighcrimestoppers.org.
