Johnston schools briefly locked down

— Two Johnston County schools were briefly locked down Thursday after someone reported a man with a gun in the area.

Four Oaks Middle and Four Oaks Elementary schools went on lockdown about 11:30 a.m. The Johnston school system notified parents, said spokeswoman Tracey Peedin-Jones.

Four Oaks Mayor Linwood Parker said town police searched the area but did not find anything.

The lockdown was lifted just after noon.
