Juicy, the Chihuahua, vanished after an apartment burglary.

DURHAM POLICE DEPARTMENT

— Police are seeking the public’s help in finding “Juicy,” a 5-pound Chihuahua missing since a Tuesday burglary at a West Durham apartment.

On Friday, police released photos of Juicy, a somber-eyed ball of brown fur who appeared to spend a lot of time sleeping, scratching and sitting quietly on her owner’s wooden floor.

Investigators said they don’t have a clue about the dog’s fate.

“We definitely hope Juicy is found safe and sound,” Kammie Michael, a police spokeswoman, said Friday afternoon.

The break-in occurred sometime between 7 and 10 p.m. Tuesday at an apartment in the 4800 block of University Drive.

Along with Juicy, missing items include an iPad, two televisions and a gaming system, according to an incident report made public Friday. The police report said thieves do not appear to have forced their way into the apartment.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to call 919-560-4583, ext. 29370 or Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200. Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases. Callers never have to identify themselves.
