National environmental group launches second coal ash spill TV ad

The Natural Resources Defense Council is coming out with round two of a TV ad campaign hammering Gov. Pat McCrory over the Duke Energy coal ash spill into the Dan River.

Similar to last week’s ad, the one airing Tuesday in the Triangle and Triad makes McCrory the focus of the blame.

“Instead of protecting our air and water, Pat McCrory’s administration worked to block safeguards, then cut a sweetheart deal to let industry off the hook,” the ad says.

The ad campaign by the national environmental advocacy group marks a significant financial commitment on a state issue.
