Durham police asked the public to help them identify this man, who they said is a suspect in a robbery at the Walmart store in the New Hope Commons shopping center on March 7.

DURHAM POLICE DEPARTMENT

— Police detectives Wednesday asked for the public's help in identifying a man they believe robbed a Walmart store late last week.

The suspect is a black man who stands between 5-foot-8 and 6 feet and has a medium build.

Police released a surveillance photo of him leaving the New Hope Commons store wearing dark pants, a light gray hoodie sweatshirt, dark sunglasses and a black toboggan-style knit cap.

The man went to the store’s money center on March 7, handed a clerk a note demanding money and threatening the clerk and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

Detectives asked anyone with information to call them at at 919-560-4583, ext. 29360, or CrimeStoppers at 919-683-1200.

CrimeStoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases, and callers never have to identify themselves.
