Four local students were honored in Wildlife in North Carolina magazine’s annual photo competition.

In the Youth Photographer, 13-17, category, Lucas Bobay of Holly Springs won first place with a close-up of a jumping spider and honorable mention with shot of a red-tailed hawk. Morgan Latham of Apex won third place.

In the 12 and under category, honorable mentions went to Kristen Forney of Raleigh for her photo of a Cope’s gray tree frog and to Addison Latham of Apex for a photo of a robin feeding its babies.

The photos were published in the January/February issue of the magazine, a publication of the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission, and will be on display at the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences in downtown Raleigh through March.
