Wake County holding info sessions on middle school math

Posted on March 17, 2014

Today, March 17, marks the first of four parent information sessions that the Wake County school system will hold to explain middle school math placement.

The decision on which math class to attend in sixth grade has major implications for what a student will take through high school, as this progression chart shows. Parents, in consultation with school officials, will decide in the next two months whether Common Core Math 6, Common Core Math 6 Plus or Common Core Compacted Math 6 Plus/7 Plus is the best option this fall.

Wake has created a middle school math resources website to help parents. Click here for the site.

The first seminar is from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Salem Middle School in Apex.
