Tom Winston: More road fixing

March 17, 2014

Regarding the March 3 news story “New interchanges planned”: $36 million is going into renovating the Peace Street ramps. When will the city fix the worst intersection in Raleigh – Glenwood Avenue at Crabtree Mall and the Beltline?

Clearly the bridge that spans Peace Street needs to be fixed, but the city seems to be approving this project because it will “spur downtown development” and be “enhancing the gateway to downtown.”

It has been 14 years of this type of spending with questionable success. As residents steadily move north and west, let’s spend money where the people of Raleigh actually are rather than continually spend taxpayer money on our Fayetteville Street money pit.
