Statistically speaking: Weather has had a financial impact on North Carolina small businesses

A March 2014 survey by Small Business Majority, a national organization that focuses on solving small-business issues, found that 21 percent of owners in North Carolina have had to lay off employees because of an extreme weather event. Here are other findings from the report.

44% North Carolina small-business owners who have had to close their company for up to a week after a storm.

90% North Carolina small-business owners who said they have experienced significant financial impact from an extreme weather event.

40% Owners who said storm damage to their business cost between $5,000 and $25,000.
