Regarding the March 5 news article “Wake board balks at tenure law”: What a wonderful thing the Wake County Board of Education did by passing a resolution against the 25 percent bonus plan! That plan does not support teachers at all. Instead, it pits them against one another and discourages collaboration.
As the mother of two boys in public school, I want their teachers to collaborate and show our students the benefits of collaboration. I want their teaching environment to be cooperative, not competitive. The school board wants that for our teachers, too, and I’m proud of their bold action to affirm that.
