— A car and a Johnston County school bus carrying students to the McGee’s Crossroads Elementary School collided at the intersection of Greenleaf Road and N.C. 50 on Wednesday morning, and 15 students were taken to hospitals for examinations.

Bus No. 220 was carrying 48 students when the accident happened, schools system spokeswoman Tracey Peedin Jones said.

Fifteen students and the bus driver were taken to hospitals for examinations as a precaution, Jones said, but none was reported to have serious injuries.

Fire and Emergency Medical Services units were told a person was believed to be pinned in the car, but there was no information available on that person’s condition.

The crash happened shortly before 9 a.m. in front of the 50-210 Fire Department and EMS station station and near the entrances to the McGee's Crossroads elementary and middle schools.

An EMS unit reported the crash, county dispatchers said.
