I test drove a deal at Lowes Foods this morning that I’m excited to share because it’s one of those deals that seems almost too good to be true to those not familiar with strategic couponing.
My final price for four boxes of cereal and a gallon of milk: 75 cents.
It was possible by combining a store sale, with paper coupons, digital cash-back offers and a Catalina promotion.
You can do the same deal -- or a similar one -- through Tuesday, March 25, when the sale ends at Lowes Foods.
To see a photos of my deal, head over to the Centsible Saver Facebook page.
Here’s the nuts and bolts of the deal:
Many Kellogg’s cereals are on sale this week for $2.50 each, a $1.49 savings off the full retail price. (A few others are priced at $3 each.)
When you buy four boxes, Lowes Foods is giving you an instant $3 off a gallon of milk, which is priced at $3.65.
Next, use four .70/1 coupons from the Feb. 16 Red Plum insert.
There are four:
.70/1 Kellogg's Frosted Mini Wheats Touch of Fruit in the Middle Raisin Cereal, 15 oz.
.70/1 Kellogg's Krave Smores Cereal, 11 oz.
.70/1 Kellogg's Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory Chocolatey Almond Cereal, 11.5 oz.
.70/1 Kellogg's Special K Chocolate Almond Cereal, 12.7 oz.
I purchased two Mini Wheats and two Krave.
After sales, the instant $3 milk discount and four paper coupons, I paid $5.25 out-of-pocket.
That’s already a pretty remarkable deal, but the savings get better.
At checkout, I received a coupon for $3 off my next shopping order, a deal sponsored by Kellogg’s and Kashi. It spit out from the Catalina coupon machine at the register.
And finally, this transaction qualifies for two cash-back credits -- one each from Ibotta and Checkout 51.
I’ll get 50 cents cash back on the milk from Ibotta and $1 credit on the Krave cereals from Checkout 51, which brings me to my final price of 75 cents for four boxes of cereal and a gallon of milk. That’s 15 cents per item!
