OKLAHOMA CITY — Redshirt sophomore Nick Gwiazdowski became the N.C. State wrestling programs sixth national champion Saturday, as he captured a 4-2 win over top seed Tony Nelson of Minnesota in the final at 285 pounds at the NCAA championships.
Gwiazdowski (42-2) also becomes the third Wolfpack heavyweight champion, joining Tab Thacker in 1984 and Sylvester Terkay in 1993.
