Johnston County recognizes most dependable students

The Johnston County Board of Education recognized five students in January for displaying outstanding dependability. From left are Hunter Williams, Melanie Galicia-Balderas, Jessica Mencia, Keyara Barnes and Sydney Creech.


Johnston County Schools’ Board of Education recognized students who showed outstanding dependability in January, a month in which dependability was the highlighted character education trait for the school system.

Keyara Barnes, daughter of Carla Sessoms, was the honoree from Cooper Elementary School, where she’s in fifth grade.

Melanie Galicia-Balderas, daughter of Paulina Balderas and Gabriel Galicia, was the honoree from Corinth-Holders Elementary, where she is a fifth-grader.

Hunter Williams, son of Leon and Amy Williams, is the honoree from Corinth Holders High School, where he is a freshman.

Dixon Road Elementary School selected Sydney Creech, daughter of Vinnie Bryant and Kim Creech. Sydney is in fifth grade.

Jessica Mencia, daughter of Elizabeth Benten Mencia, is the honoree from Early College Academy, where she is a senior.
