Michigan State crushes Hampton 91-61

— Aerial Powers led the way with 26 points and 18 rebounds as No. 5 seed Michigan State throttled No. 12 seed and MEAC champion Hampton 91-61 in the first round of the NCAA Women's Tournament on Sunday at Carmichael Arena.

The Spartans (23-9) will play their second-round game against the winner of Sunday's second game between No. 4 seed and 13th-ranked North Carolina (24-9) and No. 13 seed Tennessee-Martin (24-7) with that survivor heading to Stanford for the regional semifinals.

Annalise Pickrel added 21 points for Michigan State, which placed five players in double figures.

Nicole Hamilton had 19 points to lead Hampton (28-5) while Alyssa Bennett chipped in 16.
