Police name Durham shooting victim, say case is homicide

From staff reportsMarch 24, 2014

— Police have identified a 21-year-old man found fatally shot in a Liberty Street apartment over the weekend as Jeffery Lamar Dawes of Durham.

The case is being treated as a homicide, police spokeswoman Kammie Michael said.

Dawes was found about 10 p.m. Saturday in the apartment at 561 Liberty St. He was rushed to Duke University Hospital, but died there, police said.

Michael asked for anyone with information about Dawes’ killing to call investigators at 919-560-4440, ext. 29332, or CrimeStoppers at 919-683-1200. CrimeStoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases and callers never have to identify themselves.
