Clearwater, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Philadelphia Phillies infielder Kevin Frandsen has opted for free agency rather than accepting a move to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Frandsen, 31, hit .206 in 34 at-bats this spring training. The Phillies optioned him to Lehigh Valley on Monday. He had 72 hours to accept the move or reject it and try his luck with another organization.

In 174 games over two seasons with the Phillies, Frandsen has batted .240 with seven homers and 39 RBI.

A seven-year veteran, Frandsen has a career batting average of .259 with 14 homers and 93 RBI, playing for the Phillies, Angels and Giants.
