RALEIGH — Eastbound Western Boulevard remains closed just east of Pullen Road as crews work to clear a fallen tree, according to the city.
The tree fell late Tuesday morning and broke three utility poles, which has aggravated cleanup. The city hoped to have one lane open by the evening rush, but now says the eastbound lanes will likely remain closed until sometime Tuesday night, according to Raleigh police.
Eastbound traffic is being detoured onto Pullen Road and through the N.C. State Campus to Hillsborough Street, according to police.
The city suggests eastbound drivers avoid Western Boulevard near Pullen Road until the obstruction has been cleared. Duke Energy reported a power outage that began late this morning in the same area, cutting power to about 200 customers, though some service was restored by afternoon.
