Tempe, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim gave pitcher Joe Blanton his unconditional release on Wednesday.

The corpulent 33-year-old right-hander endured his worst major-league season with the Halos in 2013, going 2-14 with a 6.04 earned run average over 132 2/3 innings in 28 games (20 starts).

Over 10 seasons, the Kentucky product has racked up an 85-89 mark and 4.51 ERA in 265 appearances, all but 17 of those as a starter, for the Athletics, Phillies, Dodgers and Angels.
