Raleigh police hunt driver who struck woman on Capital Boulevard

— Police are looking still for one of the drivers who struck a 64-year-old woman on Capital Boulevard last Thursday.

Cornelia Olero Amissah was crossing the road in the path of traffic and away from a crosswalk just before 7 a.m. that day, north of Capital Boulevard’s intersection with Trawick Road, according to a crash report released Wednesday.

A Mercedes-Benz struck Amissah at 40 mph, sending her into the path of a second oncoming car. Amissah died at the site of the crash.

The driver of the Mercedes stayed on scene and faces no criminal charges.

The second car, described as a small, light-colored sedan, fled the scene and the driver has yet to be identified.

Investigators ask that anyone who witnessed the collision, but has not yet spoken with an investigating officer, call the Raleigh Police Department's tip line at 919-834-4357.
