Woman charged with sex offense with 12-year-old girl

From staff reportsMarch 27, 2014

— A 27-year-old Raleigh woman was arrested Tuesday night on sex offense and indecent liberties charges involving a 12-year-old girl from last June through February.

Antonia Granados of 4203 Fiddler Court was taken into custody at the Raleigh Police Department’s Downtown District station at about 10 p.m., according to an arrest report.

An arrest warrant accuses her of one county of first-degree sex offense with a child and one count of taking indecent liberties with a child between June 1 last year and March 1 this year.

Police spokesman Jim Sughrue said the charges involved a girl and that Granados and the girl had known each other beforehand.

First-degree sex offense requires that in addition to a victim being under 13 and a suspect at least four years older, the “sexual act” has to happen “by force and against the will of the other person” and has to involve a dangerous weapon or include “serious personal injury” or he helped by someone else.

A magistrate ordered Granados held on $500,000 bail, and she was being held in lieu of that amount Thursday.

The arrest warrant listed her name as Antonia Granados Martinez. Wake County Jail records list her as Antonia Granades Martinez, but her arrest record does not show the Martinez name.
