‘Stubble’ is winning word at Powell spelling bee

Second-grader Lada Campbell won Powell Elementary School’s spelling bee with the word “stubble.”

The Raleigh school’s bee lasted for eight rounds and included 17 students who won their classroom competitions. State Superintendent June Atkinson served as a reader for the bee.

Lada represented her school in the Wake County Spelling Bee earlier this month.
