Tornados hit two Wake towns Saturday night

The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado hit two Wake County towns this weekend.

An tornado with wind speeds of 80 miles per hour touched down in Garner at about 9:06 p.m. Saturday causing some roof and window damage to a home at the intersection of Trebor Drive and Cross Pointe Lane, according to the weather service's storm survey released Sunday.

The tornado was identified as an EF0. The worst is an EF5.

The Willow Spring community also saw some damage due to the tornado. At about 8:57 p.m. Saturday, it destroyed a shed at Old Stage Road and N.C. 42, according to the weather service.
