Paul Pinter: Registration card would work

April 1, 2014

I have a resolution to the debate regarding the voter photo ID law. I just received in the mail from Harnett County my voter’s registration card. When I registered to vote all those years ago, I was required to show a photo ID.

I think it would be perfectly reasonable for all residents to be required to show their voter registration cards. It satisfies everyone’s concerns: Photo ID had to be presented to obtain it. No hardship is created as it is mailed to everyone’s address.

Obviously, the extremists on both sides will disagree with me. There would be nothing to protest and no scapegoat to call out for losing elections, and one more reason: It’s too logical.
