Wake Tech hosted the annual Culinary Arts Showcase at the Raleigh Convention Center on April 1, 2014, the second day of the two-day event.
Students and professionals from across the southeast competed in several different prepared-food categories including main course and dessert preparation.
A new category was introduced this year, the two-person mystery box hot food student competition. Similar to a television cooking show competition format, several teams of students were given identical mystery boxes of ingredients and they had to produce several dishes in a specified length of time.
A silent auction of accessories for cooks and food lovers and sales of students culinary creations added to the fun. Proceeds from the event go to support students through the Wake Tech Culinary Arts Fund.
