US 1 has reopened in Wake Forest after accident brought down wires

From staff reportsApril 2, 2014

— All lanes of U.S. 1 were closed near South Main Street and Falls of Neuse Road on Wednesday afternoon after an oversized truck caught on some power lines and brought them down across the road.

The lanes were closed shortly after noon Wednesday and reopened about two hours later, after temporary repairs were made. Additional closures may be needed later as more permanent repairs are made.. Raleigh police say it could be several hours before the road can be reopened, and motorists are urged to avoid the area, if possible.

Traffic is being detoured onto secondary roads.
