RALEIGH — Two people were hurt in a collision that closed Sunnybrook Road for several hours Wednesday morning.
A car heading southbound on Sunnybrook shortly after 6 a.m. appeared to cross the center line and hit a dump truck head-on just north of Rock Quarry Road, according to police.
The car was driven by Patrick Leon Evans, 22, according to Raleigh police. Evans and the truck’s driver, Dwight Taylor, 48, were taken to WakeMed for what police called “serious injuries.”
The crash caused the dump truck’s fuel tank to rupture, spilling a small amount of diesel fuel onto the road, police said. Sunnybrook remained closed while firefighters worked to clean up the spill and keep it from reaching a small creek nearby.
