Robert Trullinger: Restore lake rules

April 12, 2014

The April 8 Under the Dome article “ SolarBees get mixed reviews after test run” raises some very important issues for the people and businesses of western Wake County that depend on Jordan Lake for clean water.

Given that the legislature’s Jordan Lake rules for the regulation of the lake’s water quality were suspended for the time being, who has authority to prevent the contamination of our water? Who is standing up to prevent the spending of large sums of taxpayer money on proposals, such as the SolarBees, that do not address the toxic chemical and animal waste pollution flooding into the lake from agricultural and industrial sites upstream?

We need comprehensive regulations and conscientious enforcement to protect the water quality of Jordan Lake that the people and businesses of Cary, Morristown, Apex and Holly Springs need and deserve.
