Raleigh police accuse man, woman of hotel-room meth lab

From staff reportsApril 14, 2014

— A man and woman who live in Fuquay-Varina were scheduled to be in court Monday on charges they set up a meth lab in a Raleigh hotel room.

Ezra Paul Weiss, 33, and Kimberly Shannon Hoffman, 37, were arrested Thursday night at the Quality Inn at 2910 Capital Blvd.

Police added more charges Friday evening while the two, who both live at 221 Ballentine St. and happen to share an April 1 birthday, were still in custody at the Wake County Detention Center.

In Room 121 at the hotel, police said in arrest warrants, Weiss and Hoffman had a cooking device and pseudoephedrine and acetone for making methathinone.

“A clandestine lab was discovered ... and that was in the ... manufacturing process,” the warrant charged.

Weiss and Hoffman were arrested Thursday on charges of conspiring to manufacture.

Monday morning, Weiss was being held in lieu of $175,000 bail and Hoffman on $100,000 bail.
