Small accidents cause headaches on I-40, I-540 in Raleigh

From staff reportsApril 15, 2014

— A relatively minor crash on Interstate 40 near Gorman Street in Raleigh brought traffic to a near standstill Tuesday morning.

There also were several accidents on Interstate 540 in the area of Capital Boulevard and Triangle Town Boulevard, and one of those closed a lane and backed up eastbound traffic.

The I-40 accident happened shortly before 7 a.m. and blocked only the left lane of the road, but that was enough on a rainy morning to snarl everything.

The State Highway Patrol and local police departments had to deal with several accidents Tuesday morning, some with vehicles on their sides or rolled over after losing traction on the wet roads, but no serious injuries were reported in those cases.
