Nova: Inside Animal Minds - Dogs & Super Senses (9pm, UNC-TV) - This “Nova” special looks at how animals use their senses, including the differences between wolves and dogs in how they interpret visual information and smells, and also the ways in which animal brains process information from their senses. (No word on whether the highly evolved “Bacon! Bacon! Bacon! Bacon! Bacon! Bacon!” dog from the Beggin’ Strips commercial was studied.)

Also on tonight . . .

American Idol (8pm, Fox) - Tonight, the final seven perform songs chosen for them by the other competitors.

Arrow (8pm, CW) - Arrow battles Slade, which results in a member of Team Arrow going to the hospital. Meanwhile, Thea hits her breaking point and Laurel struggles with a new secret.

The Americans (10pm, FX) - Philip and Elizabeth face painful turns in their missions, while Stan tries to access an American military program.
