CARY — Police have released a composite drawing of a man they think is responsible for the sexual assault of a woman at an apartment complex off Southeast Cary Parkway over the weekend.
Police say the incident occurred Saturday about 9 a.m. at the Hawthorne at the Parkway complex. A 20-year-old woman told police that a man who had been behind her in traffic followed her home, drove alongside her in the parking lot and warned her of damage to her vehicle, according to Cary police.
The woman told police she thanked the man and walked to her apartment. The woman said the man followed her, pushed her inside her home as she unlocked the door and sexually assaulted her.
In addition to releasing the composite drawing, police described the man as a clean-shaven, light-complexioned African American who stands about 6 feet tall and weighs about 200 pounds. He has short hair and pronounced green eyes that could be contact lenses. He was driving a red or burgundy sport utility vehicle at the time of the sexual assault, police said.
Police ask anyone with information about the suspect to contact the Cary Police Department at 919-469-4012 or Cary Crime Stoppers at 919-460-4636. Crime Stoppers pays up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest or indictment of those responsible for committing certain types of crimes. All calls will be kept confidential at a caller's request.
