Amanda Hayes faces Texas indictment for illegal body disposal

— Amanda Hayes, the 42-year-old woman sentenced to 16 years in prison for helping her husband kill the mother of his sons, could face additional time in Texas.

A grand jury in Fort Bend County, Texas, indicted Hayes this week on charges of illegal disposal of a body.

The 42-year-old former actress was found guilty in February by a Wake County Superior Court jury of working in concert with her husband Grant Hayes to murder Laura Jean Ackerson.

Ackerson was killed on July 13, 2011. Her dismembered body was disposed of in a Texas creek just yards from the home where Amanda Hayes’ sister lived.

Amanda Hayes was convicted in February of second-degree murder.

A conviction in the Texas charge could tack two more decades onto Hayes’ time in prison.

Grant Hayes, who was convicted of first-degree murder in the fall, does not face charges in Texas. He was sentenced to life in prison in North Carolina.
