Mike Strohmeyer: Run returns

April 17, 2014

It’s said that we can please some of the people all the time and all of the people some of the time, but apparently in Raleigh there’s a group of folks we’ll never please any time, no matter how hard we try.

Congratulations to the Rock ’n’ Roll Marathon organizers for all of their efforts over the past several months to accommodate the logistical problems that an event like theirs poses in a small town.

Yet there were folks who couldn’t seem to adjust for just this one day. Inconvenience? For sure, but try to think about the economic boost that the racers brought and the camaraderie that surely arose among our local runners and volunteers and those who came from far away to compete.

I’ll sit in traffic any time for that kind of return.
