From Staff ReportsApril 20, 2014

— A 46-year-old man has been charged with engaging in sexual acts with a child under 13.

Juan Carlos-Uribe Herrera was charged with two counts of first-degree sexual offense on Sunday involving performing oral sex on an unnamed victim in October 2011.

According to North Carolina law, Herrera’s felony charges could bring between 10 and 49 months of prison per charge if he is convicted. Raleigh police did not document any prior criminal activity by Herrera in their arrest warrant.

In addition to a $500,000 bond, the Wake County magistrate’s office issued a special order for Herrera to stay away from the victim’s home, school and place of employment. He is not to have any communication with her.

Herrera is due in court on Monday morning.
